Weekend Project

This past weekend we took Tyler to The Home Depot to do the monthly building craft. This month they were promoting fire safety, so the kids were building banks that looked like fire stations.

It was a nice size bank with three separate slots, which I assumed were for different coins such as pennies, nickels and dimes. But after Tyler applied the accompanying stickers, I realized the purpose of the slots was to separate money to share, save and spend.

After completing the project, Tyler received a new pin for his apron and also a goodie bag from the local fire department.

Then he had the opportunity to get into the driver's seat of one of the fire trucks. It seemed like a cool idea to me, but he was really tentative about the whole thing and really couldn't wait to get back out.

Apparently this is the only ladder truck in the city, which surprised me....I thought all fire trucks had ladders. Huh? I guess you learn something new everyday.
